Here it Comes: Google Drive

The much rumored Google Drive has become fact today.

I first started to hear about this service over a year ago, and my interest was peaked. Dropbox by Google? Totally awesome!

However, it doesn't look like it'll be replacing Dropbox anytime soon as I see no mention of applications for the varios OS's, meaning that it will be purely browser-based. This makes it a little more awkward to use than other methods of sharing files where it syncs a folder on your harddrive to the cloud, then downloads it to any computer which you are sharing the folder with.

Google Drive will come with 5gb of storage, which makes it a little better than Dropbox's 2gb. Also, the comments feature will be awesome for my web design business, as oftentimes I need to ask a client where they want a particular image or file.

We will have to wait and see, I guess. Google Drive for my account hasn't been activated yet, hopefully it will be soon so I'll be able to write a fuller review.
